A master of the traditional Korean Piri, SEAYOOL’s contemporary classical work Suite for Jeju beautifully expresses the poignant narrative and beautiful scenery of of Jeju Island, reinterpreting the diction of traditional instruments while masterfully merging piri and string quartet. SEAYOOL will be joined in this special performance by the Ligeti Quartet to mark this UK premiere.
Through the process of translating contemporary sensations into auditory experiences, SEAYOOL enables audiences a chance to perceive the zeitgeist through music. A composer, music director, and innovative piri (Korean Traditional Bamboo Instrument) performer, SEAYOOL creates sensory compositions that carve out his unique artistic world. His work explores the theme of “how we perceive,” presented in settings ranging from fully improvised to fully scored.
