The pitches for this microtonal string quartet were chosen from a set of "Just" whole number ratios which permit complex consonances and new harmonic relationships. The rhythmic structure reflects these unfamiliar consonances through slightly offset grooves and complex polyrhythm using several post-minimalist techniques.

Biography
Jacob Elkin is a composer and musician based in Brooklyn, NYC. Through the integration of space, noise and microtonality, his compositions seek an abstract expression of contemporary concerns which have reached listeners around the world. Mr. Elkin works as brass instructor for the United Nations International School.
